Wellness Tips for Educators

Thursday 10th October 2009 is mental health day and is a fantastic opportunity to educate and raise awareness on issues surrounding mental health and wellbeing. It is an opportunity for us as teachers to turn inwards and access our wellbeing.

As teachers we naturally focus on the wellbeing of the children in our classes. We are carers by nature and all too often our wellbeing falls off the radar. But just like the oxygen masks on an airplane, it is essential that we first take care of ourselves so that we are fully able to support those in our classroom. This does not mean that you are selfish or that you do not care about others.
